Christmas Stocking Pattern

After making Christmas stockings for my dolls, I thought I'd post the pattern I made to do it! I tested three versions of the simple pattern before deciding on the final look.

Here is the pattern! I used 1/8" seam allowance. The 1" right angle next to the pattern is to make sure it prints the right size.

Click here to view the PDF pattern! You may need to download the PDF to your device before it will print. If you decide to make your dolls Christmas stockings, too, let me know by leaving a comment!

'Banded Dolman Shirt' pattern

Doll-it-Up recently published a free pattern called the 'Banded Dolman Shirt'. I was excited to see this style of shirt offered as a pattern, so I downloaded it!

I thought these shirts were cute, I had to make two!

The first one I made was of a purple and white striped knit fabric.  I believe this fabric has rayon in it, but I'm not completely sure.  It has a different texture than regular t-shirt knit.

The shirt is designed to be made of stretchy knit fabric, because it doesn't have any closure.

The second one is a little more dressy. I made it from a sequin t-shirt!

The back of this one is solid black t-shirt fabric. It is a little tight to get on.  I think the sequins make the fabric less stretchy.  I might add Velcro to the back.

I also made this hat from the Newsboy and Beret Hat pattern that was free on Pixie Faire last Friday.

The hat is fully lined, so it can be reversible!  I think the black side looks great with the sequin Dolman Shirt.

Secondhand Lions the Musical Outfit

This outfit is completely upcycled!  The t-shirt says "Secondhand Lions" "A New Musical Adventure" and was made with this pattern.  The white skirt is a simple design with an elastic waistband.  Both items, especially the skirt, have great mix and match ability.

Canvas Slip Ons

A few weeks ago, I downloaded the Pixie Faire Freebie Friday Canvas Slip On pattern.  I was excited to try out the pattern so my dolls could have a pair!

For the outside I used black stretch denim because I wanted the shoe to be sturdy and also versatile.  The lining is turquoise blue cotton with sparkles.

I didn't have any 6mm craft foam like the pattern required to make the sole.  Instead, I used one 2mm sole pattern piece and a piece of thin cardboard (which was about 2mm as well).

Although I didn't have any bias tape for the tab on the back of the shoe, I hadn't planned on including the tab in my pair anyway.

For the strip around the bottom of the shoe I used a piece of the lining fabric, folded it over, and stitched.

After sewing them, I was really hoping they would fit!  I tried them on, and they fit pretty well.  The only thing is that my doll's heel had to hang off the edge of the sole for the toe not to press up against the front of the shoe.  That's ok though.

I think the finished product is cute!  My dolls will definitely be wearing these often!

Lacy Kimono

I accidently posted this earlier today before it was ready.  It didn't have any pictures yet!

I made this cute top out of sweatshirt fleece using the tutorial on Many Small Friends here.  It was supposed to be for my American Girl Doll, but it turned out a little small because I didn't have enough fabric.  My slimmer Kidz n Cats doll always needs new items for her wardrobe, and it fits her great!

I liked the raw edge look in one of the examples on Many Small Friends, so I didn't hem the sleeves or the neckline.

It has a boatneck

Lace at the hem
I still wanted one for my American Girl Doll, though, so I made another!  This time, since my fabric piece was too skinny, I added an extra strip.  You can see it at the shoulder.

The extra strip of fabric on each side lengthened the sleeves, so I cut little thumb holes.

Also, I updated my Kidz n Cats and OG boy's profile photos on the Meet my Dolls page

Gladiator Sandals (and Photoshoot!)

Recently, Pixie Faire Freebie Friday pattern was the Gladiator Sandals.  I downloaded the pattern to save until I wanted to use it.  I was looking at this photoshoot on American Girl Place, and I noticed the doll was wearing super cute shoes!  Suddenly I thought "I have a pattern for shoes almost just like those!" and quickly printed the pattern.

And so I made these black sandals!  I made them black because I wanted them to be versatile, and my dolls don't have any all black casual shoes.  They were fairly easy to make (cutting out the pieces to longer than assembling them).

Although the pattern calls for two straps to go through each slit on the center piece, the 2mm craft foam I used was too thick for more than one strap.

The only problem is the strap around the ankle is a little short and I have to stretch the craft foam.  I eliminated this problem by making the Velcro strips shorter and making the ankle strap a teeny bit longer on my next pair!  Shortly after finishing the black pair, I made one in royal blue.  This time I made the slight adjustments that I realized needed to be made the first go around.  They turned out great except the heel piece on the left shoe is a little odd.  I think it's because I used a different sole pattern that had a slightly larger heel, but that's okay.

My dolls will definitely be wearing these shoes a lot the rest of the summer, and I am eager to make them in even more colors!

Here is the rest of the photoshoot :)

"Cortina Top"

A week or two ago, the free pattern for Pixie Faire's Freebie Friday was the Liberty Jane Cortina Top.  I downloaded the pattern, and tried it!

For my shirt, I used white and pink interlock knit.  I made the sleeves and the neck band white, with the body of the top pink.  Next time I use this pattern I will use lighter weight knit, as the neck band got a bit bulky.

I had seen versions of the Cortina top on Pinterest that didn't have the ruffles on the sleeves.  I decided to leave out the ruffles as well.

I like the scoop neck and raglan sleeves.

And a couple of pics of her French braid half up!
