Maggie and Beth Around the House

I don't have any equipment to make indoor photo shoots easier. But I try to make the best of what I do have, in this case a well lit room with natural light and a white foamboard for a reflector!

Maggie and Beth were in the living room dressed in cute outfits, so I snapped some shots of them hanging out!

Teddie and Oakley // A Photo Story

Since Cadence was using her bedroom to do a post, Teddie twisted her hair up and laced up her boots. She went out the door and headed down the street to the neighbor's farm. She couldn't wait to spend some time with her friend, Oakley.

Bridle in hand, she called the horse, "Here, Oakley!"

He began to walk towards her.

When he got within arms reach, Teddie slipped an apple out of her pocket. "Good boy."

Today, she didn't saddle him up to ride. She walked him around, working to match their strides.

He flared his nostrils, heaving a breath, and chewed the bit occasionally.

"Stay still while I brush your mane," Teddie said.

After she'd finished brushing, she braided his mane for fun. Then, she took the bridle off, and he trotted away to sniff at the grass. She watched for a minute, reluctant to go. But homework called, so she turned and set off on the road back home.

Cadence's Hearing Aids

"Thank you for letting me use your room to make this post, Teddie!" Cadence said.
Teddie replied, "Sure! Let me know when you're done."

"Hello all, now that it's just us I'm going to talk about my hearing aids. I'm a little shy of them, but I'm working to overcome that. Like my grandparents taught me, I am a born-again follower of Jesus and the fact that He loves me helps me not to care what other people think. And, I want the world to know that it's okay for kids to wear hearing aids. So here I am.

The molds were fit directly to my ear. The back of the piece fits snugly to my ear. My hair helps keep it all in place. When I was younger, I had to get new hearing aids pretty often since I would quickly grow out of them."

"And here it is off. I have severe hearing loss, so when I take it off I can hear only a few things, and what I do is very unclear. My hearing aid doesn't make it any clearer, it just makes it louder. It amplifies what my ear is already picking up.

I wear two, but only got pictures of one."

Well thanks for joining me. I hope you liked learning about my hearing aids.

Happy Sunday!

The Craft Tag

Emmie from American Girl World recently did The Craft Tag, and nominated anyone who wanted to do it, so I thought I'd do it! The tag was created by Kaylyn. Also, for the sake of time, I used Emmie's featured image. I debated on posting this here or on my other blog, but decided on here.

The rules are:
Answer 5 questions
Create 5+ new questions
Tag people

Emmie's questions:

Have you ever made an ATC?

Yes! I made a few with my brother a couple years ago. But I don't know where they are and I'm pretty sure I didn't take pictures of them.

What's your favorite craft you've ever made?

My favorite has to be either my doll's bunk bed or fireplace. Foam board can make all crafting possibilities a reality.

Have you ever made something for your dolls?

I do it all the time!

Acrylic or watercolors?

Having tried both, I would say acrylic because the colors are much bolder. Also, if you have acrylic paint on hand you can paint almost anything a different color. I did the painting above with acrylic.

Pencil or pen and ink?

Pencil; gotta erase the errors :)

Markers or colored pencils?

Colored pencils allow more gradient in color. So, if I'm going to color I use both, but prefer colored pencils.

What is your most infamous craft-gone-wrong?

Weeeeell, I attempted to make a foam doll sled once......

What is your favorite craft tutorial site?

American Girl Ideas!

My (new) questions:

What is your favorite craft supply?
Hot glue or liquid glue?
Wing it or plan it?
Have you ever made crafts to go in your bedroom?
Favorite craft you've ever made? (this was Emmie's question too but it's a great question)

I nominate you!

Mickey Mouse Ears for Dolls

Before I get into the post, I just want to say that I finally got a follow by email gadget in the sidebar! For some reason it never worked and then one day I decided to try it again and it worked. So now you can do that if you want! Also, there's a poll in a sidebar so that I can gather information about how you guys get notified of my new posts!

Now for the reason you are here..... :)

It is pretty rare that I find a craft tutorial that makes me want to do it right away. But that was the case when I saw American Girl Idea's Mickey Mouse Ears for Disneyland tutorial. I had just enough craft foam and a few blank headbands laying around. I plugged in my glue gun and off I went!

So far I've made three!

First I made Belle inspired ones for Beth! I painted the yellow craft foam with gold sparkle fingernail polish. The rose is also made from craft foam.

Phoebe got some Monsters, Inc. ears!

And, of course, I made Buzz Lightyear inspired ears for Maggie, who loves all things Toy Story. Speaking of, I need to do a new room tour post for her... :)

Which pair is your favorite?

PS I just counted and I follow 138 blogs O_O How many do you follow?
